Anand Ratna Maurya, who was MP from Chandauli Lok Sabha for three consecutive terms on BJP ticket, died late on Friday night. Anand had created a record by becoming MP from Chandauli Lok Sabha for three consecutive terms (1991, 96, 98) which no one has been able to break till date in Chandauli Lok Sabha. Former MP Anand was a well-known face of Chandauli in the government of former Prime Minister Atal Vihari Vajpayee.
Former Chandauli MP Anand Ratna Maurya was suffering from kidney disease for a long time and these days he was undergoing dialysis at a private hospital in Delhi, during which he breathed his last late on Friday night. Anand Maurya was counted among the leaders of soft-spoken and humble nature, as a result of which he was able to win from Chandauli thrice in a row. The mortal remains of Anand Ratna Maurya are being brought to his native village, Chiraigaon in Banaras.
Anand Ratna Maurya contested the election of MP from Chandauli Lok Sabha for a total of five times, in which he was a BJP MP for three consecutive terms from 1991 to 98, while in the 1999 Lok Sabha elections, he contested for the fourth consecutive time on a BJP ticket, but Anand was defeated by SP’s Jawahar Lal Jaiswal. had to face defeat. After some time he left the BJP. At the same time, he contested the 2004 Lok Sabha elections for the fifth time on a Samajwadi Party ticket, but he was defeated by Kailash Nath Singh Yadav of the Bahujan Samaj Party. After which Anand once again joined BJP in 2007 and worked on many important positions for the upliftment of the party. During this, he also served as the BJP State Vice President from 2015 to 2017. These days he was separated from active politics.
