Nagpur. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Nagpur team arrested an Inspector posted at Akola RPF station of Bhusaval Railway Division and a middleman while accepting a bribe of Rs 1,00,000. This bribe was demanded in lieu of releasing the accused on bail in the case registered in the police station. The arrested accused include SHO Mukesh Kumar Meena and Suresh Chandan of RPF police station Akola.
The complainant is a resident of Amravati and his family has a furniture business. Two cases of buying and keeping stolen goods were registered against the complainant’s father at RPF Akola police station. On March 7, Meena called the complainant through a person to meet her in Amravati. Instead of sending his father to jail, he demanded Rs 5,00,000 instead of giving bail from the police station itself.
After much pleading, he agreed to take Rs.3,00,000. Meanwhile, a complaint was made to the CBI, which was found correct in the verification. Under the plan, on Friday evening, the complainant went to Akola to meet Meena by taking Rs 1,00,000 as the first instalment. Meena took Rs 1 lakh from the complainant and kept it with Suresh Chandan.
The CBI team caught both of them by laying a trap. Both were presented in the special CBI court in Amravati. The court has granted CBI custody till March 14. Apart from the section of the Prevention of Corruption Act, the CBI has also registered a case of criminal conspiracy.
