Jamnagar: Airline ‘Azure Air’ flying from Moscow to Goa was grounded at Jamnagar airport in Gujarat after receiving a bomb threat, however nothing suspicious was found on board and after some time the plane left for its destination is likely to happen. The police gave this information on Tuesday. The aircraft made an emergency landing here on Monday night, they said. The aircraft was then searched by teams of National Security Guard (NSG) and local police. Police said the plane is likely to leave for its destination from Jamnagar airport in a few hours.
Officials said there were 236 passengers and eight crew members on board the plane. The plane made an emergency landing at Jamnagar airport at 9.49 pm on Monday night after receiving a bomb threat. All passengers and crew members were ejected safely. Jamnagar Superintendent of Police Premsukh Delu told PTI that NSG teams from Ahmedabad and Delhi, along with the local police, carried out the search of the aircraft, including the luggage of the passengers, which was completed on Tuesday morning. He said nothing suspicious was found on the plane. Delu said the bomb disposal squad of the local police started searching the plane on Monday night.

Later in the midnight, an NSG team from Ahmedabad arrived and another NSG team from Delhi reached the airport at around 3 am. “The NSG has completed the search of the aircraft. The luggage is being loaded back and the flight is expected to depart at around 11.30 am. Jamnagar collector Saurabh Pardhi told PTI, “The Jamnagar Air Force base informed us about the bomb threat. Perhaps this threat was received by Goa ATC (Air Traffic Control). The search has been completed and nothing suspicious has been found.” (agency)
