Kolkata : The Border Security Force (BSF) has recovered gold biscuits worth about Rs 2.57 crore from a pond in the Kalyani border post area in West Bengal’s Nadia district. The officers provided this information. He said that on the basis of specific information, a team of BSF launched a search operation on Monday to locate the gold.
In a statement, the BSF said, “40 gold biscuits were found in the pond. Their market value is estimated to be around Rs 2.57 crore. According to the statement, a few months back, a smuggler had jumped into the pond after being chased and hid the gold there.

“When we caught him, nothing was found on him,” the statement said. So we released him. He had hidden the gold in the pond and was waiting for an opportunity to retrieve it. According to the statement, BSF South Bengal Frontier had seized over 113 kg of gold in 2022. (agency)
