Every year the festival of ‘Basant Panchami’ is celebrated on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha of Magh month. The spring season also starts from this day. The festival of ‘Vasant Panchami’ is being celebrated on January 26 this year.

In North India, the day of ‘Basant Panchami’ is considered very special for the students. On this day, children worship Goddess Saraswati by wearing yellow colored clothes after bathing and enjoy flying kites. It is believed that the festival of ‘Basant Panchami’ is celebrated in the honor of Kamdev, his wife Rati and their friend Basant. This festival is also associated with Shringar ceremony.
