Sir, I do hawala work. I have contact with many people in Pakistan, in this connection I have gone to other countries including Pakistan. Dr. Rizwan, a Bangladeshi national who was taken on police custody remand for nine hours, accepted these things, but when the investigation team asked from where and who sends the hawala money to Pakistan, he remained silent.

When it was asked that who gets hawala money in India, he started peeping under his arm. Understanding his silence, the investigation team started rotating their questions, then he started answering. He told that he used to run a hotel in Bangladesh. After marriage he had come to Kanpur.

Got fake documents made here and started living in a flat in Arya Nagar. His wife Hina and father-in-law Khalid knew that he was doing hawala work from here. When the police placed in front of him the balance sheet of two bank accounts (IndusInd and HDFC), he started spewing the truth in a huff. Dr. Rizwan said yes.. this is hawala money.

Used to come in these accounts only. When the police asked what does he do with this money? So he told many things to the police, which have not been made public. On the basis of these stated facts, the police will ask for a 14-day remand from the court. Dr. Rizwan told that he used to do hawala business in Bangladesh as well. He has also traveled abroad on Bangladeshi passport. However, during interrogation he kept saying that he had neither betrayed Bangladesh nor spied on India. However, Dr. Rizwan did not give the details of the people he has relations with in Pakistan.

Police will ask for remand again

Joint Police Commissioner Anand Prakash Tiwari said that now the police will once again file an application in the court on Monday for remand. A 14-day remand will be sought against Rizwan by presenting strong evidence of his involvement in anti-national activities in front of the court, after which the security agencies can once again interrogate Dr. Rizwan during the remand.

In fact, the police had sought a 14-day remand from the court for interrogating Dr. Rizwan, a Bangladeshi national caught from Moolganj, citing a threat to national security, but could not present the evidence of the allegation against the Bangladeshi. Due to this, the court had given the police only nine hours of custody remand. The police team reached the jail at around eight in the morning. Where after the paperwork, the police took him to a secret place where he was interrogated.
