Indeed, a new criminal law is expected to be passed by the Indonesian parliament this month. According to this law, sexual relations before marriage will be considered an illegal offense. Those found guilty under this law can be punished with six months’ rigorous imprisonment with corporal punishment.

Let us tell you that according to Article 413 (1) of this new bill of Indonesia, if any person who makes physical relation with a person who is not his husband or his wife. then he will be punished with rigorous imprisonment for a maximum of 1 year or with heavy fine under category II for this adultery.

According to media reports, this law can be passed from the Parliament at the beginning of next week. Let us tell you that after making law, this decision will be applicable to Indonesian citizens and foreigners alike. Punishment in this case will happen only when a complaint has been lodged with the authorities with complete evidence and the crime can be proved.
There is a ban in Pakistan too
Significantly, Indonesia is not the first such country. Where sex before marriage is being banned. Rather, according to an ordinance in India’s neighboring country Pakistan, sexual relations before marriage can be punished with imprisonment of up to five years.
