Ayushman Bharat Yojana: Only 61 private hospitals of Meerut connected in four years, golden cards not made for millions of people

Private hospitals of Meerut district are not showing interest in Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Jan Arogya Yojana. Even after four years of the launch of the scheme, only 61 private hospitals have been able to get listed in it whereas there are 243 private hospitals registered in the district. Under the scheme, the central and state governments provide free treatment up to five lakhs.

The health department has registered 76 hospitals in this scheme, out of which 15 are government. Government hospitals include LLRM Medical College, PL Sharma District Hospital, Women’s Hospital and 12 Community Health Centers. Beneficiaries are getting benefits in the scheme, but it is like cumin in camel’s mouth.

Due to lack of awareness among the people and negligence and apathy of the health department, there are still 9,24,915 beneficiaries whose golden cards have not been made. A total of 12,55,915 are eligible, but only 3,31,000 have been issued golden cards, out of which 3,06,640 have received treatment. Meerut ranks 46th in the state in providing treatment. Although the Health Department claims that this scheme is proving to be a boon for the poor. Rs 39.41 crore has been paid to the hospitals for the treatment of the patients.

Only those people are included in the scheme, whose names were registered in the government by the health department according to the economic census of 2011. A large number of people who are financially prosperous also joined them. This matter was raised a lot, after which many such people had also deposited the golden cards in the CMO office. Although there are still many people who are not eligible for this scheme, but are associated with this scheme because of being already registered.

Efforts are being made to increase the registration of private hospitals
Efforts are being made to add more private hospitals to this scheme. Earlier their number was 55, six more hospitals have been added recently. Private hospitals do not want to get into the complications of the process
Private hospitals are refraining from joining the scheme because they want to avoid complications in the process. In this, the money is less, the second payment is done after a few days of treatment.
