Palghar: A murder accused who had escaped from police custody in Maharashtra’s Palghar district has been arrested. A police officer gave this information on Tuesday. Pramod Badak, senior police inspector of Virar crime unit, said that the 36-year-old accused was arrested on charges of murder and attempt to murder following a robbery at a bank locker in Virar area on July 27, 2021.

He was brought to a court in Vasai from Thane Central Jail on November 25 this year, from where the accused had escaped from police custody with the help of a friend, the official said. He said that with the help of various leads, the crime branch arrested him and his 42-year-old friend from Nalasopara area on Sunday. (agency)
