Allahabad High Court: Proposal to increase photo identification fee passed in general body

In the general meeting of the Allahabad High Court Bar Association held on Wednesday, the proposal to increase the photo identification fee was passed amidst uproar. The members agreed to increase the fee to Rs 500. Said, this proposal should be passed. Advocates raised their hands in support and raised the voice of pass hua pass hua. However, general agreement could not be reached on other proposals of the bylaws. Both the side and the opposition raised their voices. In view of this, the executive has decided to hold secret ballot. The date of polling will be decided later.

Prior to this, General Secretary Satyadhir Singh Jadaun said in the general meeting convened in the library hall under the leadership of High Court Bar Association President Radhakant Ojha, a drafting committee was formed for amendment in the bylaws, which included former presidents along with members of the Elders Committee. The draft committee has prepared a proposal for amendment on six points, which is being presented in the general body. He put all the points of amendment among the members in the general body in turn.

During this, the members both supported and opposed the amendment. However, almost everyone agreed on increasing the photo identification fee. The secretary said, it is not necessary to open a PPF account. This money will be sent to the savings account only. Members can choose as per their wish.

The general meeting which started at 1 pm went on till about 4 pm. During this, the former office bearers of the bar kept their point one by one. Said, it is necessary to put any amendment proposal in the general body. Amendment without discussion is not correct and this is the rule. It is necessary to build a consensus. The General Secretary said, the suggestions of the members on all the important points of amendment will be decided in the executive meeting. After this the date of polling will be decided.

IK Chaturvedi, AC Tiwari, Dr.CP Upadhyay, Ashok Kumar Singh, Atul Pandey, Vikrant Pandey, Uday Shankar Tiwari, Abhishek Chauhan, Shashi Prakash Singh, Suresh Chandra Pandey, Harbansh Singh, RP Tiwari, Mahendra Bahadur Singh, Pradeep Tiwari, Abhishek Shukla, Ashutosh Pandey, Tejbhan Singh, Dhananjay Shukla, Ritesh Srivastava etc. kept their point. During this, a large number of executive officers were present.
