The rain that fell late on Monday night broke down as a disaster on the city’s power system. There was a power crisis in half the city overnight. In many areas, the supply was restored till morning. But in some areas it took till afternoon to rectify the fault. People felt relieved only after the supply started. During this, due to the power crisis, people also had to face the problem of water in the morning. Due to this, due to non-availability of daily work, people could not reach their jobs or business establishments on time.

Swarna Jayanti Nagar, Quarsi, Maris Road, Lakshmibai Marg, Hathras Adda power stations got faulted due to rain in the night, due to which half of the city area was plunged into darkness due to power crisis. Although, the electricity department teams started finding faults in the night itself, but by morning the supply could start. In some areas the supply started at 8 am and in some places at 9 am. There was also a problem in the 33 KVA line supplying power to Quarsi and Swarna Jayanti Nagar power stations. The supply at both these power stations started only after 12 o’clock. SK Jain, Superintending Engineer of the city area, says that due to the rains in the city, there were some big and small faults, which were rectified and now the supply is continuing smoothly.

GVM Mall’s cable box blazed

Due to the rain, the cable box of 33 KVA line of GVM Mall near PAC on Ramghat Road blew up. The supply could start here only after morning. Here, a fault near Vikas Bhawan on Ramghat Road affected the supply of 11 KVA line to several areas, leaving many nearby areas without electricity.
