In Agra, a joint team of Police and Excise Department has caught a large consignment of liquor. Illegal liquor worth Rs 28 lakh was recovered from a container by the excise and police team at Khandauli toll plaza of Yamuna Expressway on Wednesday afternoon. The police have also arrested the container driver.
SHO Khandauli Anandveer Singh said that at one o’clock on Wednesday afternoon, he was checking with the Excise Department team at Khandauli toll plaza, when the container was seen coming from Noida side. On being signaled to stop, the container driver tried to run away with the vehicle, but the police caught the container.
344 boxes of Haryana brand English liquor recovered from the container. According to the Excise Department, the value of the seized liquor is around Rs 28 lakh. The police arrested the container driver, Dangu Haryana resident Farooq from the spot. Police station in-charge Anandveer Singh said that the accused is being interrogated.
