Customs officials at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport were blindly giving clearance to lethal weapons. This was revealed on Friday by the then Assistant Commissioner of Customs Vidyadhar B. Pachore has been interrogated.
The Assistant Commissioner, who gave clearance to the weapons of Abbas Ansari, MLA son of mafia Mukhtar Ansari, has accepted this lapse in STF interrogation. However, he tried to blame it on his subordinates.
Abbas Ansari had brought a Blaser rifle of banned bore from Slovenia in August 2016. During custom clearance, he told that the baggage did not contain the rifle, only its barrel.
The customs officials did not even bother to check the receipt and let him go. When the STF started probing the purchase of seven weapons on the arms license of Abbas, it was found that on his return from Slovenia, Abbas had got the Blaser rifle registered on his license by going to the licensing officer of the Delhi Police.
