In Saurikh police station area of Kannauj district, a case of forcibly marrying a teenager to a man thrice her age has come to light. On its complaint, the child care team stopped the marriage. At the same time, the parents of the teenager have been taken into custody.
The parents of a village resident of Thana area fixed the marriage of their 14-year-old daughter, studying in class nine, with a 42-year-old father of three children, a resident of a village in Mathura. The family members opposed this mismatch, even after this, both were adamant on forcibly marrying the girl child.
On Tuesday morning, the parents started taking the girl along to get married in Mathura. The girl’s uncle called and complained to DM Shubhrant. On the instructions of the DM, the members of the child help line team along with the Saurikh police station stopped the wedding rituals. After this she took her parents along with her to Kannauj.
