Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the year-long celebrations to mark 75 years of ‘Hyderabad Liberation Day’ and will also attend a service program on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. The Center has planned to organize a year-long program on the completion of 75 years of ‘Hyderabad Liberation Day’.

At the same time, the state government has decided to celebrate ‘Telangana National Integration Day Diamond Jubilee Celebration’ for three days from Friday in memory of the merger of the erstwhile Hyderabad princely state with the Indian Union on September 17, 1948 under the Nizam’s rule. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will hoist the national flag and take the salute at a program. State ministers will hoist the flag in all district headquarters on Saturday.
Earlier this month, Union Tourism and Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy had written to the Chief Ministers of Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra inviting them for the inaugural function to be held at the Hyderabad Parade Ground.
Reddy addressed the three Chief Ministers- K. Chandrashekhar Rao (Telangana), Basavaraj Bommai (Karnataka) and Eknath Shinde (Maharashtra) to organize proper programs to celebrate the inauguration day in their states.
Hyderabad state was under Nizam’s rule and the police had launched a campaign for its merger with India called ‘Operation Polo’, which ended on 17 September 1948.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said in a release that Shah will also hold a meeting with prominent BJP leaders in Telangana. After this, he will distribute aid materials, equipment and other items free of cost to Divyangjan in a program organized in the city on the occasion of Modi’s birthday.
