The fog started from ten o’clock on Sunday night, which lasted till nine in the morning. The fog cleared slowly in the middle of the wind, but the Sun God could not be seen for the whole day. The sky remained cloudy. The maximum temperature at the meteorological office was recorded at 14.8 degrees Celsius and the night’s minimum at 9.4 degrees Celsius. On Tuesday too, there was fog since morning and the sun was not visible till afternoon. Dr. UP Shahi, meteorologist of Agriculture University, says that till January 6, the effect of fog and cold wave will continue like this. When the difference between day and night temperature is less then melting like situation is created.
Dehradun-Puri Express reached late by more than four hours
Due to fog, long distance trains were delayed by more than four hours on Monday. According to Railways, 12903 Golden Temple Mail from Mumbai to Amritsar arrived at City station here with a delay of 46 minutes. This train arrived at 4:11 PM instead of 3:25 PM. 14317 Indore-Dehradun Express was delayed by four hours. This train could arrive at 5:04 pm instead of 1:02 pm. 18477 Puri – Rishikesh Express was delayed by 4 hours 21 minutes. The arrival time of this train at City station is 2:52 PM. This train reached at 7:13 pm. Whereas, 12055 New Delhi-Dehradun Express arrived at 4:45 pm instead of 4:32 pm.
Meteorologist Dr. N. Subhash of Indian Agricultural System Research says that there was cold day condition throughout the day on Monday. The situation is similar on Tuesday as well. The maximum temperature again fell below 15 degrees Celsius. Cold day conditions occur when the temperature falls below 15 degrees. The effect of winter is even more. The nights and days start getting cold.

AQI of the city came below 200
After crossing 300, a decline has been recorded in the air quality index of Meerut. It has come down to 200 on Monday. Meerut has recorded 188, while Muzaffarnagar has the highest number of 366. Jaibhimnagar 196, Ganganagar 190, Pallavapuram 178, Begumpul 152 and Delhi Road 185 have been registered.
