A CNG boat rally will be organized in Varanasi on Sunday to give the message of green energy through Ganga. Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri and Energy Minister AK Sharma will inaugurate the CNG boat rally at Namo Ghat at 4.30 pm. 100 boats equipped with CNG will participate in the boat rally from Namo Ghat to Ravidas Ghat. Along with this, the CNG boat race of the departments related to the Ministry of Petroleum will also be organized.
During the programme, people will also be made aware about the G-20 event. Free CNG gas will be given to the boatmen for participating in the rally. In view of the CNG boat rally by the municipal officials, the operation of passenger boats from Namo Ghat to Ravidas Ghat will remain closed from 1 pm to 8 pm on Sunday.
