An extortion of ten lakh rupees was sought from Dr. Deepak Verma, doctor of Vanshika Children’s Hospital located at Ardali Bazar Mahavir Mandir, Varanasi. The Cantt police arrested the accused youth who reached the hospital with a threatening letter in the name of jailed Jhunna Pandit on Sunday night. On the Tahrir of the hospital’s manager, a case was registered on other charges including extortion.

According to the manager of the hospital, Jagatganj resident Rajiv Singh, the hospital was standing outside the gate at 8.55 pm. Meanwhile, a young man came and started asking the doctor Dr. Deepak Verma. When the doctor was not available in the hospital, handed over the letter containing the envelope and asked to give it to the doctor.

When I opened the envelope and read the letter, there was a threatening letter in the name of Jhunna Pandit and an extortion demand of ten lakh rupees was sought while addressing Dr. Deepak Verma. Threats of dire consequences were written for not giving ten lakhs. Meanwhile, other hospital staff caught the person who had delivered the letter and handed it over to the Cantt police.

According to Cantt Inspector Prabhukant, Jayaprakash Yadav, a resident of Basgaon, was arrested under Chandauli’s Dhanapur police station. In police interrogation, Jayaprakash Yadav said that he was told by Jhunna Pandit, who was in jail, to go and give this letter to the doctor. The interrogation of the accused is going on. The Dhanapur police of Chandauli is also being verified about the accused.
