The difficulties of suspended senior civil engineer Om Prakash Sonkar of Banaras Rail Engine Factory (Bareka), who were recently released from jail on bail after being arrested for taking a bribe of three lakh rupees, have increased. The CBI registered a DA case (acquiring assets disproportionate to income) against Om Prakash Sonkar after raiding his residence in Rana Nagar Colony on Saturday.
CBI officers conducted a five-hour investigation at Sonkar’s place on Saturday. The team collected details of movable and immovable properties. Along with this, another CBI team also raided Omprakash’s hideout at Saidpur (Ghazipur) and gathered details of the property. Documents of all the properties have been recovered in the raid. Along with this, information of many bank accounts has also been received. Om Prakash is accused of amassing disproportionate assets. The Central Bureau of Investigation has now intensified its investigation.
CBI arrested in September
According to the information, the CBI had received a complaint that Om Prakash Sonkar, senior civil engineer of Bareka, was demanding Rs three lakh to pass the bill of a contractor. By raiding on this basis, the CBI had caught Om Prakash Sonkar red-handed on 16 September 2022. Along with this, he was arrested and sent to jail.
