An attempt was made to vitiate the atmosphere in Varanasi’s Narpatpur (Dubkiyan) village on Sunday night. Chaotic elements ransacked the ancient temple. The divine idols installed in the temple were broken. As soon as the information about the incident was received on Monday morning, there was anger among the residents of the village including the surrounding areas. The people gathered on the spot created a ruckus.

In view of the tension, along with the officers, the force of three police stations reached the spot. When the police assured to order new idols and get them consecrated again in the temple, the people calmed down. There is tension in the village regarding the incident. In protest, the shopkeepers kept the shops closed.

In Narpatpur (Dubkiyan) of Chaubepur police station area, there is a south facing Hanuman temple near the ancient Khapadia Baba. Many divine idols are installed here. The villagers told that this temple is a symbol of faith. There is also a big event on festivals. Till Sunday night, the deities installed in the temple were completely correct. When Sitaram Yadav went to visit on Monday morning, he found the idols broken.
