The traffic system of the city is not able to come back on track even in the month of traffic. Within 17 days, 8186 people were challaned for violating traffic rules at only eight ITMS crossings of Meerut city. A fine of Rs 64.15 lakh was imposed on them. And in other areas of the city, the traffic police imposed a fine of about Rs 38 lakh by issuing challans.
Traffic month is going on from 1 November. A campaign is being run by the traffic police to make people aware of the traffic rules, but its effect is not visible.
According to police records, challans worth Rs 1.02 crore were issued in the first 17 days. In these, 64.15 lakh challans have been done at eight intersections with red lights. At these intersections people are told about the traffic rules through mike, yet the situation is not improving.

24 black spots in the district, police not alert
There are 24 black spots marked in the district. There are eight black spots on NH-58 Highway, four on Mawana Road, three on Garh Road, seven in the city and two on Hapur Road. After the accident, the police talk about installing signals, sign boards and lights at the black spots, but nothing happens.
