For the first time, the UP Bird and Nature Festival will be organized in Mahoba district by the state government from February 1. The venue of the event, Vijay Sagar Bird Sanctuary, is buzzing with foreign birds at this time. The chirping and chirping of birds in the morning and evening is easily attracting the tourists. Or just say that the chirping of birds and the beauty of this place is ‘robbery’ on the hearts of the people. There are 1,262 migratory and 2,335 local birds present in Vijay Sagar. Six employees are deployed along with the forest ranger to keep an eye on them.

Every year hundreds of foreign birds encamp in the Vijay Sagar Lake in Bundelkhand due to accumulation of snow in cold countries. Foreign birds come from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Czechoslovakia in the month of November and return by the end of February. At this time birds of different species are seen flying in the sky. At present, Lalsar, Matamar, Karul, Pankaua, submarine, waterfowl, snail, blind heron, stork, nakta, sinkhpar, donkh, heron, chamcha birds are being seen in Vijay Sagar Bird Sanctuary.

DFO Narendra Singh Sengar says that at present there are 1,262 migratory and 2,335 local birds. One forest ranger, forest inspector, two forest workers, two watchmen and three sailors are deployed for their care.

Watch towers are built around the lake. Foreign birds are also monitored through binoculars. The beauty of the lake increases with the arrival of guest birds. Lalsar and Kalasar come here after covering a distance of eight thousand kilometers.

To increase tourism, preparations are on to start boating in Vijay Sagar lake soon. Four paddle votes will be conducted. DFO Narendra Singh says that in the proposal sought by District Magistrate Manoj Kumar for the development here, along with paddle vote for sailing, police force will be deployed for the safety of tourists.

How to reach Vijay Sagar Bird Sanctuary

Vijay Sagar Bird Sanctuary can be reached by road and rail. The nearest railway station is Mahoba. It is connected to Prayagraj and Jhansi rail line. Vijay Sagar Sanctuary Center is five kilometers away from the district headquarters. The nearest airport is Khajuraho. It is 70 kms from Mahoba. On the way to Kabrai on the Kanpur-Sagar Highway, a link road is found. The bird sanctuary can be reached by walking two kilometer approach road. A tourist has to take a ticket of Rs.30. To see the view of the lake, you can go to the forests with the help of nature trail. Hawa Mahal is built on a mountain.
