Lucknow : Additional Chief Secretary, Sugar Industry and Sugarcane Development, Uttar Pradesh, Sanjay R. Bhusreddy (Sanjay R. Bhusreddy), on the occasion of the 28th foundation day of the Post Graduate College of Sugarcane Farmers, Puranpur Pilibhit, participated online in a two-day national seminar on the topic “Analysis of the nature of sugarcane cultivation in India, development possibilities and challenges”. Bhoosreddy, the chief guest of the program on the first day of the inaugural session, gave his views in an online address on the subject of Natural Cultivation of Sugarcane.
Bhoosreddy in his speech said that natural farming uses those resources which do not need to be bought from the market and through which the number of micro-organisms in the soil increases progressively. Due to this, on the one hand the cost of cultivation is reduced, on the other hand the soil level and the number of micro-organisms keeps increasing every year in the field.
We have to increase biological measures to control pest diseases in sugarcane.
He also said that today we have achieved self-sufficiency in food grains by the use of scientific farming techniques, but in return the soil biomass has come down from 1 percent to 0.5. The breathing air is becoming increasingly poisonous. The groundwater level is depleting at an alarming rate. Indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides is deteriorating human health continuously. The best permanent solution to all these burning problems is natural farming. He said that it is the law of nature that whatever production we are taking from the land, we have to give adequate nutrition to the land, for which it is made from cow dung and cow urine. The use of manure and biofertilizers should be increased. In addition to increasing the cost of farming due to the use of chemical pesticides, the health of the soil and the environment is also being damaged. Therefore, we have to increase biological measures to control insect diseases in sugarcane. Since a common consumer who is dependent on the food grains produced by the farmers along with the family for his livelihood. It is our responsibility to provide him pure and poison free food grains. Natural farming is eco-friendly in nature, which plays an important role in conserving indigenous cow, indigenous seeds and soil fauna and water.

Farmers can earn more profit from farming with less cost
Highlighting the efforts being made by the department in the interest of the farmers, the Additional Chief Secretary said that by adopting the Panchamrut scheme, our farmers can earn more profit from low-cost farming by using tricocard and sugarcane seeds produced by women self-help groups. Cheap and natural control of diseases can be done by using Trichoderma available by Sugarcane Research Council.
Farmers will have to move towards adopting natural farming
Apart from this, he said that due to the increasing use of chemicals, the products of our crops are not able to compete in the international market and due to being sub-standard, they are returned. Excessive use of chemicals not only affects the health of consumers but also affects the food chain and environment, so it is the need of the hour that our farmers have to move towards adopting natural farming.
