Electricity employees and engineers started statewide indefinite work boycott from Tuesday. Work boycott has been started on the call of Vidyut Karmachari Sanyukta Sangharsh Samiti to solve the arbitrariness and pending problems of the top management of Energy Corporations. Electricians registered their protest by taking out torchlight processions in the entire state in the evening. A protest meeting was held throughout the day at Hydel Field Hostel in the capital Lucknow and a torchlight procession was taken out in the evening. Officials of the Sangharsh Samiti said that in the first phase of work boycott, the power workers working in shifts in production houses, transmission sub-stations, system operation and 33 KV power sub-stations were kept separate from the work boycott movement. UP The Power Officers’ Association, keeping itself aloof from the work boycott, was engaged in streamlining the supply system. The engineers associated with the association reached the office half an hour earlier on Tuesday and worked till late. Association’s Acting President Awadhesh Kumar Verma, Vice President SP Singh, PM Prabhakar and General Secretary Anil Kumar said that all the members have been asked to cooperate in keeping the supply system and consumer service normal.
