Lucknow : The supplementary budget will be presented on the very first day of the winter session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly beginning on Monday. Apart from the supplementary budget, the state government will also introduce some bills in the winter session which lasts only for three days. According to Finance Department officials, the size of the supplementary budget could be huge and funds would be allocated for some big projects. The size of the supplementary budget to be presented on Monday is expected to be up to Rs 50,000 crore.

Earlier, before the winter session, an all-party meeting was called under the chairmanship of Speaker Satish Mahana. Due to the program in Gorakhpur, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Leader of Opposition Akhilesh Yadav did not attend the meeting due to the by-elections in Mainpur on Monday. MLA Manoj Pandey from the main opposition party and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna from the ruling party kept their point. Apart from this, Aradhana Mishra Mona from Congress, Raja Bhaiyya from Jansatta Dal, Umashankar Singh from Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Omprakash Rajbhar from Suheldev Rajbhar Bharatiya Samaj Party (Subhaspa) were present in the all-party meeting.

On May 29, the Yogi government presented an annual budget of Rs 6.15 lakh crore.

In the all-party meeting, SP chief whip Manoj Pande raised the demand for adjournment after paying tribute to Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav before the first day of the winter session. He said that no work should be done on the first day except paying homage. He said that due to the Mainpuri by-election, Leader of Opposition Akhilesh Yadav would also not be able to participate in the first day’s proceedings. This supplementary budget is being brought to arrange funds for civic elections, global investor conference to be held in February next year and various welfare schemes. Just six months ago, on May 29, the Yogi government had presented a huge annual budget of Rs 6.15 lakh crore. Last month on November 16, in the meeting of the State Council of Ministers, the proposal to present the supplementary budget in the winter session was approved.

According to the information, funds can be arranged for the International Film City being built in Greater Noida, Jewar Airport, Kanpur, Agra and Gorakhpur Metro along with the Irrigation Department and some other welfare schemes in the supplementary budget this time. Announcement of some schemes and allocation of funds for the local body elections to be announced in the state this month is possible in the supplementary budget. Funds will also be allocated in the supplementary budget for preparations for the Global Investors Summit to be held in February next year. For the success of the investor conference, soon after the winter session, roadshows of state officials will start in foreign countries.

Mulayam Singh Yadav’s tribute will be presented

According to the information received from the Vidhansabha Secretariat, on the first day of the winter session, a tribute will be presented to the former Chief Minister of the state, Mulayam Singh Yadav. Supplementary budget will be presented at 12 noon. After discussing the supplementary budget on Tuesday, it will be passed. The winter session will end after the introduction of two bills on Wednesday.
