After the role of Ashraf, lodged in Bareilly District Jail, in the Umesh Pal murder case came to the fore, STF and other agencies got involved in the investigation. Meanwhile, Ashraf’s henchmen who are stuck in the city have switched off their mobiles and fled. After the arrest of a shooter, he can be arrested on his spot.
While being in Bareilly Jail, agencies are trying to find out how Ashraf set up a network in and around the city in two years with the help of relative youth and acquaintance. The intelligence staff is also engaged in gathering information in the posh colonies of the city, where Ashraf’s people used to stay and advocate for those coming from Prayagraj and other places. STF has become more active after the role of a leader belonging to the opposition party came to know in this case.
