The bold order or plea of not guilty to release AG Perarivalnala, another convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, is applicable, the Supreme Court has said. Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi would have been assassinated by a female suicide bomber during an election rally at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu on 21st day of 1919. Apart from Nalini, her husband V. Sriharan alias Murugan, R.P. Orders would have been given to release Ravichandran, Santhan, Robert Payas and Jayakumar. Sriharan, Santhan, Robert and Jayakumar are Sri Lankan citizens, while Nalini and Ravichandran are from Tamil Nadu.
