Piyush Rai, son of former BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai, has welcomed the sentence awarded to Mukhtar Ansari from the High Court. He has also expressed unwavering faith in the judiciary. In a press conference held at his residence in Ghazipur on Thursday, he said that the decision is very important. The criminal who has been synonymous with terror for many decades has been punished.

With the help of the previous governments, Mukhtar Ansari has been carrying out serious incidents. I welcome and respect the decision of the High Court. He and my family have full faith in the judiciary. We are hopeful and confident that the verdict will come in our favor and we will get justice.

Crime will end from UP soon

Piyush Rai said that at that time the SP and BSP government was giving protection to Mukhtar Ansari. Strict action against mafia is going on in Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government and we are confident that crime will end from UP soon.

It is noteworthy that the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court has convicted Mafia Mukhtar Ansari for threatening the jailer of District Jail, Lucknow in 2003. The court sentenced him to seven years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 37,000. This is the first time that Mukhtar has been convicted in a criminal case.

Mafia Mukhtar was shifted to Banda Jail last year. Earlier he was lodged in Ropar Jail in Punjab. Mukhtar Ansari has more than 55 cases registered against him, out of which 40 are registered in the same police station of his home district Ghazipur. Apart from the murder of former BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai, Mukhtar has many serious cases registered against him like inciting riots, murder, dacoity, extortion, kidnapping. Trial is going on in most of the cases.

The court of Additional Sessions Judge First / MP MLA Court Ramsudh Singh on Wednesday dismissed the application of MP Afzal Ansari in the Gangster Act case 14 years ago. Also, 23 September has been fixed for framing of charges. It has been ordered that the MP should be personally present in the court, otherwise a non-bailable warrant will be issued against him.

It is to be known that the court had rejected the discharge application given by MP Afzal Ansari and fixed September 6 for framing the charges. Here the accused filed a complaint against the said order in the High Court and sought time, on which the court had fixed the date of September 21.

On 22 November 2007, the Muhammadabad Police registered a case against the Gangs Act by including the cases of Bhanwarkol and Varanasi in the gang chart. MP Afzal Ansari is out on bail in this case.
