Lucknow : National Textile Corporation (NTC) and British India Corporation (BIC) have proposed to set up textile parks in seven cities of Uttar Pradesh. NTC and BIC cloths were already found in these seven cities of Uttar Pradesh including Kanpur, which are now closed. Now a proposal has been made before the state government that by taking the land of closed mills, more land should be given outside the city on which a textile park with high facilities can be constructed.
Officials of the Industrial Development Department say that NTC has found cloth in the state in Lucknow, Kanpur, Mau, Naini Prayagraj, Hathras and Saharanpur and Rae Bareli which have been closed long back. Similarly, BIC’s Kanpur woolen cloth mill has been closed. A proposal has been made to give 375 acres of idle land of closed textile mills in these cities to the government and instead of this, a space has been prepared to build a textile park on the outskirts of the city.

Officials say that an exercise will be done to change the land use of the closed mills and in return the proposal will land on the ground after assessing the available land outside the city. NTC has maximum five mills in Kanpur. These include Mayur Mill, New Victoria, Swadeshi Cotton Mill, Lakshmi Ratan Cotton Mill and Earthton Cotton Mill. Whose total land is 150 acres. Now it is proposed to change the land use of this land to residential, commercial or institutional. NTC has requested the state government for land use change.
Allotment of 150 acres of land for Textile and Apparel Park
It may be noted that the state government is setting up textile parks in Noida, Gorakhpur and Bareilly. 150 acres of land has been allotted for Textile and Apparel Park in Noida. Work is underway on the plan to set up textile parks in Meerut, Agra, Jhansi, Varanasi, Lucknow and Kanpur in the state. Integrated textile parks will be set up in these cities with the help of the private sector. After the proposal of NTC, the establishment of textile parks in the state will speed up.
