An uncontrolled truck crushed a shopkeeper on Thursday night near Sangam Tirahe of Shahganj police post area in Sonbhadra. The seriously injured shopkeeper died on the spot. After the accident, the driver fled with the vehicle. On getting information about the incident, the police reached the spot, took the dead body into custody and sent it to the district hospital for postmortem.
Police said that at around 9 pm, a truck going from Ghorawal towards Rawatsganj ran over shopkeeper Vinay Pandey (22), a resident of Usri Thana Shahganj, resulting in his death. The deceased Vinay used to earn his living by running a shop at Sangam intersection. After closing the shop, he was going home on foot. He had just reached his house a little before that a speeding truck going from Ghoraval towards Rawatsganj hit him. On the information of passers-by, SO Sanjay Pal reached the spot and took the dead body into custody. After identification of the deceased, the post-mortem has been sent to the district hospital. The SO says that further action will be taken by registering a case on the basis of the Tahrir given by the family members of the deceased. The postmortem of the dead body is being done.
