The body of a priest was found lying on the bed under suspicious circumstances in Khairabad police station area of Sitapur district. His wife was also found unconscious on the bed. After getting the information, the police reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem.
According to the police, prima facie it is a case of death due to suffocation. Prem Pandey (60), the priest of the Gauri Devi temple located in Bhulanpur of the area, lives in the locality. He was sleeping in the room with his wife Asha Devi (55) on Saturday.

When the doors of the temple did not open for a long time on Sunday morning, the local people expressed apprehension of untoward incident. Mahant and his wife both were lying on the bed when seen through the skylight of the room by placing a ladder. When people reached inside by breaking the door, it was found that the priest had died.
After getting the information, the police reached the spot and found that the fire was burning in the room. Police has sent the dead body for postmortem. At the same time, the woman is being treated. SO Arvind Singh told that prima facie the issue of death due to suffocation is coming to the fore. The dead body has been sent for post-mortem. Action will be taken on the basis of the report.
