Shri Krishna Birthplace Case: More than 300 idols and inscriptions will testify that there is a temple at the place of Idgah!

Most important in Mathura’s Shri Krishna Janmasthan and Idgah dispute are the remains of more than 300 idols and inscriptions, which were found in the excavation of Janmasthan started in 1953 from the same land on which the temple is being claimed. These idols and inscriptions are kept locked in a special room at the birthplace of Shri Krishna.

Mathura was known for special civilizations since ancient times. Hundreds of people come every day to see the various sculptures related to these civilizations in the museum here. The 13.37 acres of Katra Keshav Dev’s land on which it is being claimed by the litigants that Aurangzeb had built an Idgah by demolishing the temple. In this area, when the earthen mound was excavated, many idols were found.

Only seven of these idols are in the museum of Mathura. The rest of the idols and the remains of the idols and inscriptions found in the excavation are still with the Sri Krishna Janmasthan Sansthan. He has been kept very carefully by the institute. All these have been preserved in a special room.

This room is cleaned on time

The temple administration is leaving no stone unturned to preserve the sculptures and inscriptions found during the excavation. This room is cleaned from time to time by the temple management. It is kept from here to there inside the special room.

Vishwaroop Vishnu is prominent in the idols found in the museum.

Among the sculptures preserved in the museum, the Vishwaroop Vishnu idol is prominent. This is a broken one-fourth part of the Vishwaroop Vishnu idol. Which is said to be of the Gupta period. In this idol, the sky circle is also displayed along with the faces of Narasimha and Varaha, next to the face of Lord Vishnu. Vishnu is adorned with a crown crown on his head, Ekavali around his neck, coils in his ears and Vaijayanti garland on his shoulders.

Deputy Director of the museum, Dr. Yashwant Singh Rathore said that the museum has seven idols that came out of Katra Keshav Dev. In which Vishwaswarup Vishnu, Ganga Maa, Buddha, Dwar Toran Stambh, Rishabh Nath, Kartikeya Nath Agnidev, female-male figures are torans.

Shri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sansthan’s secretary Kapil Sharma told that when the excavation was done during the construction of Shri Krishna Janmasthan temple, many idols, inscriptions and remains of idols came out. Some of these idols have been taken only by the Archaeological Department. Rest of the more than 300 sculptures, inscriptions, remains are with us. We have kept them safe in a special room. Many of which give proof of being a temple. They will be brought to the fore when the time comes. The excavation started on 15 October 1953.
