Russia-Ukraine war: India does not want nuclear war between two countries, said- Principal Scientific Advisor Prof. Ajay Sood

India does not want nuclear war to break out between the two countries. It is not just a threat to two countries, but to the entire humanity. If this happens, it will be the biggest catastrophe ever. Padma Shri, Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood said this during a media interaction on the Russia-Ukraine war.

Here in the 92nd Annual Convention of the National Science Academy (NASI) and the inaugural session of the National Seminar, Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood on Russia’s threat of nuclear attack on Ukraine said that it has to be stopped at any cost. India is trying through diplomatic channel how to stop it and is confident that there will be some cooperation in this.

Pro. Sood talked about various schemes run by the Government of India to promote children in the field of science. Told that ‘Waste to Wealth’ mission is being run under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Four hundred children have been groomed as Swachh Sarathi fellows, who are going door-to-door to make people aware about the use of litter. Along with this, through the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), the government is motivating children to enter the field of science.

After MAAC, 48 percent of daughters grow up in science.

Principal Scientific Advisor of India, Prof. Emphasizing on women’s education, Ajay Kumar Sood said that there is a need to promote daughters in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). A fair number of girl students reach MSc, but after that only 48 percent women are able to move forward in the field of science.

New IITs struggling to establish themselves
Is there a need to open new IITs in the country? In answer to this question, Prof. Sood said that there are 23 IITs across the country. First they need to be empowered, then the opening of new institutions should be considered. The old IITs have established themselves, but the new IITs are struggling for the same. They need all the things like faculty, infrastructure.
