New Delhi: President Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday greeted the countrymen on the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji and said that by adopting his thoughts, we can bring peace, equality and prosperity in the society. In his message, the President said, “My warm greetings to all the countrymen living in the country and abroad and especially to the Sikh brothers and sisters on the occasion of the birthday of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.” Murmu said that Guru Nanak Dev Ji, in the message of ‘Ek Omkar’, said that God is one and all-pervading.

The President said, “Guru Nanak Dev ji inspired us to live with love, unity and brotherhood in the society. He said that eternal values like love, faith, truth, sacrifice and ethical conduct exist in Japji Sahib from which we should learn in life. He said that through teachings like ‘Kirat Karo, Vand Chhako’, he (Gurunanak Dev ji) inspired us to live honestly and share all the resources together.
“Guru Nanak Dev ji also gave a message that human beings should be humble and lead a life of service and by adopting his ideas, we can bring peace, equality and prosperity in the society,” the President said. Murmu urged the countrymen to adopt the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji and follow the path shown by him and work with the spirit of social welfare. (agency)
