Retired Justice SN Shukla of the Allahabad High Court was stripped of all judicial powers even before his retirement. He was debarred from hearing the cases. With this, when the investigation started, he had also gone on leave for 90 days.

Justice Shukla is accused of allowing private colleges to admit students in the academic year 2017-18 while hearing a case in the Lucknow bench. While the Supreme Court had already banned him in the case. His move was in violation of the order passed by the CJI-led bench.

The CJI had received two complaints against him. Out of which the first came from the Advocate General of the state and the second from the in-house committee. The inquiry committee had said in its report that Justice Shukla had acted unbecoming of a judge and insulted the values of judicial life. Only after this the investigation process started against him. During the investigation in 2018, he also went on 90 days leave.

After this he was transferred from Lucknow to Allahabad. He retired in July 2020. He was given a final farewell from the service from Allahabad itself but before retirement all his rights were taken away. All judicial functions were withdrawn from him on the orders of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. He was also forbidden from doing other things.
