The 37th edition of Indira Marathon, organized on the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, will be held on Saturday. District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar Khatri gave detailed information about the preparations related to the event while giving a press conference at the Regional Sports Office located at Madan Mohan Malviya Stadium on Thursday. He told that the preparations for the marathon have been finalized, the district administration and sports department will make the marathon grand.
Said that this is the major event of the city, there will be no shortage of any kind in it at any level. During the press conference with him, several officials of the Sports Office including Regional Sports Officer Vimla Singh, Rustam Khan and Devi Prasad were present, who gave information about the preparations related to the event.
Marathon will be held on this route No changes have been made in the route of Indira Marathon. This competition will be held on the same route as last year. The marathon will start from Anand Bhawan, followed by Swaraj Bhawan, Allahabad University, Commissioner’s Residence, ACC Head Quarter, Army Red Eagle Stadium, Maharishi Patanjali, Traffic Line, Myohal Square, Dhobighat Square, AG Bhawan, Bar Council, Polo Ground, High Court , Ambedkar Chauraha, Patthar Church, Subhash Chauraha, Hanuman Mandir Chauraha, Medical Chauraha, CMP Datpul, Chungi, Baihrana Chauraha, Naya Pul and will reach Rewan Road. Running on Rewa Road, the runners will reach the Bharat Petrol Pump at Dandupur, from where the runners will again come through the same route till the New Yamuna Bridge and Hanuman Mandir intersection and the main gate of Chandrashekhar Azad Park opposite St. Joseph’s School (Gate no. -1) and complete the race by going round the stadium.
Will get a cash reward of nine lakh seventy thousand rupees
The winners of the marathon will be honored by the sports department with cash prizes and certificates. Runners coming first in the marathon will be given a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh each, male and female runners coming second, Rs 1 lakh each and runners coming third will be given a cash prize of Rs 75-75 thousand. Along with this, runners from fourth to 14th position will be given a cash prize of ten thousand rupees each as a consolation prize. This total amount is nine lakh seventy thousand rupees.
Runners above 20 years can participate, today is the last chance Runners must be above 20 years of age to participate in Indira Marathon. Friday is the last day for registration, so interested runners have the last chance to register today.
Electronic chip will be available from today
Runners participating in the marathon will have to reach the Madan Mohan Malviya Stadium on Friday to collect the electronic chip. No runner without an electronic chip will be able to participate in the race.
Water and refreshment booths will be made Arrangements have also been made for water at seven booths and refreshments at nine booths for the runners by the Regional Sports Office on the marathon route.
Arrangement of ambulance and indicators board
Teams of doctors will also be present on the marathon route for the purpose of safety of marathon runners, as well as ambulances have also been arranged for emergency. In case of any untoward incident with the runners, immediate work will be done to take them to the hospital through an ambulance. Apart from this, members of NCC cadets will be standing with the indicators board at every km to give the runners the correct guidance of the route and information about the remaining race.

Every runner will be closely monitored
The sports department will keep a close watch on every runner running in the marathon. For this every runner will get electronic chip and bib no. Will be delivered on Friday. On completion of the runner’s race, his distance and bib number will be recorded with the help of electronic chip. But they will be matched with the records marked at each check post. In such a situation, no runner will be able to return from the middle of the way.
Entry of vehicles will be prohibited during the marathon No personal vehicle will be allowed to accompany the runners participating in the marathon. Only those vehicles will be allowed on the marathon route, which will be marked with the permission of the organizers.
Inauguration at 6.30 am, closing at 2.30 pm
The marathon race will be inaugurated at Anand Bhawan at 6.30 am, which will be flagged off by Minister of State for Sports, Girish Chandra Yadav. After this, a closing ceremony will be held at 2.30 pm to honor the winners, in which the Sports Minister will distribute the prizes.
