Nashik : In order to make Nashik city plastic free, the Nashik Municipal Corporation registered a case against 49 persons selling plastic in 2022 and collected a fine of Rs 21 lakh 55 thousand. Also decided to seize 2252 kg plastic and recycle it. The campaign has been implemented by the Municipal Corporation to protect the environment.

Under this, action is taken against the sellers of plastic bags. The slogan ‘Good bye single use plastic’ has been given by the Municipal Corporation. The Municipal Corporation has selected a squad for action so that banned plastic is not used. Fruit sellers, meat sellers are being appealed not to use single-use plastic after not using Khara Panna, which is used for giving tobacco-related substances on paan carts through Pathak. Those who keep or sell plastic are being fined Rs 5,000 for the first time, Rs 10,000 for the second time, Rs 25,000 for the third time. In 2022, the Solid Waste Management Department confiscated two and a quarter tonnes of plastic by taking massive action. This information was given by Dr. Avesh Pallod, Director of Solid Waste Management Department.

Process in Waste Energy Project

It has been decided to reprocess 2.25 tonnes of plastic seized by the Municipal Corporation. The municipal corporation has started a waste energy project in the compost plant located at Vilholi. In this project, granules will be made from plastic. After supplying to the companies, it will be produced again through this medium. From January to December 2022, a total of 409 plastics were confiscated and a fine of Rs 21 lakh 55 thousand was collected, while a total of 2252 kg of plastic was seized. The highest amount of 553 kg plastic was seized during Diwali.
