Due to non-clarification of the situation regarding scaling in the PCS examination by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC), there is a state of confusion among the candidates. The commission released the marks and cut-offs of the results of PCS-2021 released recently, but did not mention in the marksheet how many marks of scaling decreased or increased.

In earlier examinations, the Commission used to mention scaled and non-scaled marks in the marksheet, but this system was abolished after the CBI investigation of the Commission’s examinations began. The CBI had registered a case in the PCS-2015 recruitment case after it came to light that arbitrary marks were awarded in the guise of scaling.

When the commission abolished this system, the candidates protested against it. However, he did not get any hearing. When the new chairman of the commission, Sanjay Shrinet, took charge, the candidates once again intensified their demand that while implementing the earlier system, it should be clarified in the marksheet that how many marks of the candidates have increased or decreased in the name of scaling.

The commission released the score and cutoff marks of PCS 2021 in the past, but this time also there was no mention of scaled and non-scaled marks in the marksheet. Avnish Pandey, president of the Competitive Student Sangharsh Committee, says that this was the first PCS exam of the new president’s tenure. It was expected that he would give relief to the candidates, but this time also no hearing took place.

Avneesh’s question is that why the commission which claims transparency in recruitment examinations wants to hide information about scaling. Prashant Pandey, media in-charge of the Competitive Student Sangharsh Committee, says that several letters were written to the Commission, but the hearing was not held. This time a complaint will be lodged on behalf of the competing students by writing a letter to the Chief Minister.
