Asaduddin Owaisi On Muslim Intellectual: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat met Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, head of ‘All India Imam Sangathan’, at a mosque in Delhi on Thursday. Earlier he had met Muslim intellectuals. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has reacted sharply to this meeting.
Owaisi, MP from Hyderabad said, “Why are we suspected? Ask those who have come together, what they have come to talk about. The whole world knows the ideology of RSS and you go and meet them. This is the so-called educated section in the Muslim community, what they will do is true and we who fight our fight for political rights and fundamental rights, we become bad.
He further said, “This is the section that considers itself to be knowledgeable. They have nothing to do with reality. They don’t know what is happening on the ground. Living life comfortably and you meet the RSS chief. This is your democratic right… I am not raising questions but then you also have no right to question me.
one hour meeting
The meeting took place in a closed room at the Kasturba Gandhi Marg mosque for more than an hour. The office of All India Imam Organization is located here. Bhagwat was accompanied by senior RSS functionaries Krishna Gopal, Ram Lal and Indresh Kumar. Ram Lal was earlier the organizational secretary of the BJP while Kumar is the patron of the Muslim Rashtriya Manch.
Sharing the details of the meeting, Ahmed Ilyasi’s brother Suhaib Ilyasi said, “It is very good that Bhagwat came on our invitation on the death anniversary of our father. This has also sent a good message to the country.
What issues were discussed?
The RSS chief is holding discussions with Muslim intellectuals to strengthen communal harmony. He had recently met former Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, former Chief Election Commissioner SY Qureshi, former Aligarh Muslim University vice-chancellor Lt Gen Zameeruddin Shah, former MP Shahid Siddiqui and businessman Saeed Sherwani.
In this meeting, Bhagwat had raised the issue of the use of the word “Kafir” for Hindus and said that it does not send a good message. At the same time, Muslim intellectuals objected to the labeling of Muslims as “Jihadi” and “Pakistani” by some right-wing organizations.
What did the RSS say?
Muslim intellectuals had also told Bhagwat that there was some other motive behind the use of the word ‘kafir’ but in some sections it is now being used as a “slang word”. Understanding the concerns of the intellectuals, the RSS chief said that “the DNA of all Hindus and Muslims is the same”.
