Nagpur. Taking suo moto cognizance of the news published regarding the incidents happening due to nylon manja, the High Court accepted it as a public interest litigation. Orders have also been issued on the petition from time to time, but now the attention of the High Court was once again drawn to the news published about the painful death of a 10-year-old boy from Nylon Manja two days ago. As soon as the High Court took a tough stand on this, the administration swung into action. During the hearing on behalf of the government, it was told that a compensation of 1.50 lakh has been given to the victim’s family. This fund has been allocated under the Rajiv Gandhi Student Accident Welfare Scheme. After the hearing, the court also appreciated the initiative taken by the District Magistrate. Municipal made a public appeal

In the affidavit filed by the Municipal Corporation, it was told that the Municipal Corporation has made a public appeal to destroy those who have nylon manja left within 7 days. Even in the local newspapers, a public notice has been issued in this regard. Every possible effort is being made by the Municipal Corporation to eliminate Nylon Manja completely. What has been the effect of the Municipal Corporation’s appeal? The court was requested to give some time to give its information.

The court said in the order that some holidays are coming continuously after Republic Day. In such a situation, it cannot be denied that there is more game of kite. Therefore, the court instructed the officers to be alert regarding the use of nylon manja. The court clearly said that care should be taken that no accident happens due to nylon manja. The amicus curiae said that on January 10, 2017, the Environment Department of the Delhi Government has issued a notification for the ban on nylon manja. The state government should also issue notification on the same lines. Along with this, the court was requested to order the government to strictly implement the provision made in the notification.
