Many MLAs of the ruling party are not satisfied with the proposed reservation for mayor, municipality council and town panchayat president for civic elections. The legislators have requested for amendment in view of the social equation of local politics being disturbed by the proposed reservation. Especially the MLAs and party officials are worried about the reservation of seats for most of the town panchayats and municipality presidents including the Jhansi Municipal Corporation of Bundelkhand.
In Garotha, Gursarai, Erj, Moth and Samthar Nagar Panchayats located in the assembly constituency of BJP MLA Jawahar Rajput from Jhansi’s Garotha, the chairman’s seat has been reserved for Scheduled Castes. Rajput has expressed his anguish at the appropriate forum in the government and the organization and requested for amendment.

On the other hand, most of the urban bodies have been reserved in the area of Prakash Dwivedi, BJP MLA from Banda. Talking to Dwivedi City Development Minister Arvind Sharma in this regard, he has urged to make the reservation system in such a way that all classes get a chance for representation.
According to sources, Ashish Singh Ashu, MLA from Mallawan of Hardoi, is also not satisfied with the proposed reservation of all the four civic bodies in his area. According to party sources, regional office bearers from almost all the six regions have also expressed the need for improvement in reservation.
