The risk of pneumonia is highest in children from birth to 5 years. This is the reason why doctors are not only advising timely vaccination to prevent pneumonia, but are also telling that it is necessary to be very careful. Doctors say that the risk of this disease is increasing due to improper use of medicines. National Pneumonia Day is celebrated every year on 12 November to raise awareness about pneumonia.

Medicines becoming less effective
Pediatrician Dr. Ashok Rai says that medicines are becoming less effective for a few years in children suffering from pneumonia. The reason for this is giving medicine in any disease without the advice of a doctor. The risk of pneumonia remains high since birth. Globally, 11 percent of children die from pneumonia.
this is the symptom
According to Dr AK Pandey, Senior Medical Officer in the Health Department, its symptoms include sore throat, cough, mild fever, phlegm, diarrhoea, loss of appetite and feeling tired. The symptoms of bacterial pneumonia in children are also difficult to understand. Symptoms include high fever, sweating or chills, blue nails or lips, wheezing in the chest, and difficulty in breathing. There are two types of pneumonia. Bacterial pneumonia requires antibiotics to treat, whereas viral pneumonia gets better on its own within a few days without any treatment.

take this caution
Give antibiotics or any other medicine to the child only on the advice of the doctor.
Do not give your child cough syrup on their own if they have pneumonia.
Let the child get enough rest and do not let the body become dehydrated.
With the right treatment, pneumonia can be cured within a week or two.

PCV vaccine prevents pneumonia
According to District Immunization Officer Dr. Nikunj Verma, PCV vaccine is effective to prevent pneumonia. The first vaccine is given at one and a half month from birth with polio dose, Penta and IPV. The second vaccine is given at three and a half months with OPV, Pentavalent, F IPV and Rota and booster dose with measles vaccine at nine months. All these types of vaccines are given free of cost at government hospitals and health centers. Since April this year, 1,17,196 PCV doses have been administered. This includes 39,326 PCV I, 40,861 PCV II and 37,019 booster doses.
