The preparations for the proposed municipal elections next month have intensified. After the first rapid survey of the reservation of wards, now the process of reservation of wards has been started along with the seats of the mayor in municipal corporations, chairman’s seats in municipal councils and nagar panchayats.

In this episode, so far the work of reservation of wards of the municipal bodies of 53 districts has been completed. While the process of reservation in the remaining 22 districts is in the final stage.

In this regard, Urban Development Minister AK Sharma reviewed the preparations for the municipal elections by holding a meeting with the officials. The proposals for reservation of district wise wards have been discussed in the meeting.

The minister specifically inquired about the reservation of seats for the mayor and chairman. Even after the deadline for sending the proposal by November 4, the minister expressed displeasure over not sending the proposal from 22 districts till now and has also directed to make the proposal available to the government at the earliest.
