Hyderabad: The National Anti-Profiteering Authority has raided Shalini Shivani Chitrapatgruhala, owned by Miraj Entertainment Limited in Hyderabad. The authority has ordered the theater to deposit the extra amount collected from both the spectators. Three years ago cinema halls would have charged Rs 11.74 more for a single ticket. Against this, both the customers filed complaints. Comes or both will get 18 percent interest rate compensation. Along with this, Rs 12.81 lakh will have to be deposited in the Government’s Consumer Welfare Fund.

The two, who reside in Hyderabad, would have gone to Shalini Shivani Cinema Hall near Chaitanyapuri Metro Station 3 years ago. At that time GST would have been brought down from 18 percent to 12 percent. But still the theaters did not reduce the base price. Cinema halls charged Rs 11.74 more for executive tickets and Rs 16.06 more for gold category tickets.

Both of them who went to see the film ran against the National Anti-Profiteering Authority. He filed a complaint at Shalini Shivani Cinema Hall. According to the owner of the theater, 49.5 percent of the revenue from the tickets would have gone to the distributor. And 50.5 percent i.e. Rs 5.53 lakh was kept by the company itself. The company accepted that it did not give the audience the benefit of the reduction in GST.

The Anti-Profiteering Authority has ordered Miraj Entertainment Limited to deposit Rs 12.87 lakh to the Central and Telangana Government’s Consumer Welfare Fund. The authorities have also informed the company about the deposit of both the funds. Accordingly, Miraj Entertainment Ltd. will deposit Rs.6.40 lakh in the Consumer Welfare Fund of the Central Government and Rs.6.41 lakh in the Consumer Welfare Fund of Telangana.
