Mumbai: The effect of cold starts reducing gradually after Makar Sankranti, but due to the change in the weather this year, weather experts have expressed the possibility of increasing cold even after Makar Sankranti. Meteorologist Kiran Kumar Johre has told that due to the winds blowing from the west-north, there are chances of increasing cold in the northern part of Marathwada, Konkan coast and Mumbai.
It is getting cold all over the country. A major drop in temperature has been recorded in Jammu-Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Ladakh, Shimla and the capital of the country. The temperature in Delhi has also dropped below three degrees Celsius. Because of this, many health problems have arisen due to ‘cold shock’. Johre said that there could be more fluctuations in temperature for the next few days. The citizens of the state will have to face the same severe cold for the next one week.
Mercury and possibility of falling
Severe cold will be felt in North Maharashtra, Konkan, West Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Marathwada. Kiran Kumar Johre told that there is a possibility of mercury falling below 10 degrees in Nashik, Nagpur, Mumbai, Pune etc. Johre explained the scientific reason that till now in the month of January, the temperature fluctuates due to the slow movement of wind coming from the north (Western Disturbance) and the formation of low pressure area in the Arabian Sea.
