Additional District Judge Anirudh Prasad Tiwari has extended by six days the period for keeping MLA Abbas Ansari, son of Mukhtar Ansari, in the custody remand of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case. The court said that the accused is handed over to custody till 2 pm on November 18 for interrogation.

Earlier, the district court had ordered to be kept in ED custody till November 12. That period was expiring on Saturday. But, due to Saturday being a holiday, the ED filed an application a day before seeking extension of the custody remand. The ED, in its application, stated the need for further interrogation.

Accepting this, the court extended the period of custody remand till November 18. Advocate Om Prakash Mishra appeared for the ED. This was not opposed by Government Advocate Gulab Chandra Agrahari. However, the court has also imposed several conditions for placing him on the custody remand.
