Modi's birth place recommended for world heritage site, list released by ASI

New Delhi: UNESCO has so far listed 52 places in India as World Heritage Sites. And the Archaeological Survey of India has put some other places under UNESCO’s tentative list. It also includes Vadnagar, the birthplace of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

ASI has included Surya Mandir in Modhera, Vadnagar and Unakoti in Tripura. UNESCO’s list of heritage sites is such a list that each country prepares on its own. It means that the respective country’s three places are included in the world heritage places. That means it is not necessary that UNESCO or Jaganna will give place in their heritage sites. Union Culture Minister G. Kishan Reddy has congratulated ASI in this matter.

Only 52 places in India are in the world heritage places. Last year ASI would have given a proposal for 6 jagans. It would have included Vyagra Prakalp at Satpuda, Riverfront at Varanasi, Megathickil place at Hirebenkal, Maratha military cantonment in Maharashtra, Narmara Valley, Bhedaghat-Lametaghat and Kanchipuram.

Reddy said that Vadnagar municipality is a historical city. From the 8th century BC, honey and jagashi were added. There are many historical buildings in the city. UNESCO has given place to Warsaw among 1 thousand 154 places in the whole world.
