In fact, the Muslims have been divided into two parts. Shia and Sunni. But apart from these there are 72 other sects who follow Islam. One of them is Bohra Muslim. Bohra Muslims are both Shia and Sunni. There is a population of more than 25 lakh Bohra Muslims in the country. These Muslims are very educated. They are identified as a rich, elite community. Most of the Muslims of the Bohra community are traders. Dawoodi Bohras are mostly in India. They live in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Apart from Pakistan’s Sindh province, there are also a large number of them in Britain, America, Dubai, Iraq, Yemen and Saudi Arabia. Statistics show that most of the Dawoodi Bohra community in Gujarat has been voting for the BJP.

Who are Pasmanda Muslims?

15% of the Muslims living in India are considered to be of the upper class. Who are called Ashraf. Apart from these, remaining 85 percent Arjal, Ajlaf Muslims are backward. These are called Pasmanda. Statistics show that the condition of Pasmanda Muslims is not very good in the society. Such Muslims are backward and suppressed in every way economically, socially and educationally.

What does pasmanda mean?

Pasmanda is originally a word derived from Persian. It means people who are left behind, oppressed or persecuted. Pasmanda movement in India is 100 years old. In the second decade of the last century, a Muslim Pasmanda movement arose. After this, in the decade of 90 also two big organizations stood up in favor of Pasmanda Muslims. Among them was the All India United Muslim Front, whose leader was Ejaz Ali. The other was Ali Anwar of Patna, who was leading an organization simply named All India Pasmanda Muslim. Both these organizations lead many small organizations of Pasmanda Muslims across the country. However, both are termed as non-Islamic by Muslim religious leaders. All the small organizations of Pasmanda Muslims will be found more in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.

How much does the BJP benefit from the joining of Bohra and Pasmanda Muslims?

Among Hindus, votes are divided on the basis of caste, but among Muslims, everyone unites and votes for any party. SP and BSP in UP, RJD and JDU in Bihar, TMC in West Bengal, Muslim votes in NCP in Maharashtra. Similarly, in South India also, the party which stands firmly against the BJP gets the votes of the Muslims.
