Late on Tuesday, the Vindhyachal police filed a case against a Facebook page and three websites under the IT Act for cheating by making a website in the name of Maa Vindhyavasini. On the basis of investigation, action will be taken against the people operating the page and website.
Cheating was being done through Facebook page and website by demanding donations in the name of faith and cooperation in the name of construction work. This matter was prominently published in the January 8 issue of Amar Ujala. Shri Vindhya Panda Samaj President Pankaj Dwivedi and Minister Bhanu Pathak gave a complaint at Vindhyachal Kotwali for misleading the devotees and tarnishing the image of Astha Dham. On the basis of Tahrir, investigation has started after registering a case.
By creating a fake website or page on Facebook in the name of Maa Vindhyavasini, donations and cooperation are being sought from the devotees. Not only this, even the fee has been fixed for darshan-worship, worship-recitation etc. on such website. Donations were also being sought for the construction of Vindhya Corridor, while all the construction is being done from the government-administration level.
Many such websites and pages are active on the Internet. Devotees also complained about this. Taking the matter seriously, District Magistrate Divya Mittal ordered City Magistrate Vinay Kumar Singh to form a team and investigate.
In the investigation of the eight-member team, several websites demanding donations and cooperation were found. Three of them were suspended. Along with this, the activities of the website are being investigated. Police is also engaged in search of operators. Cyber team has also been deployed to check the website. CO City Parmanand Kushwaha has been made the chairman of the inquiry committee. Tehsildar Sadar and member of Vindhya Development Council Arun Kumar Giri is the convenor.
The members include DIO Abhishek Srivastava, Assistant Information Officer Om Prakash Upadhyay, Legal Advisor Naresh Chand Gupta, Incharge Inspector Vindhyachal, Shree Vindhya Panda Samaj Pankaj Dwivedi, Shree Vindhya Panda Samaj Minister Bhanu Pathak. Along with the investigation, the team will also give suggestions to prevent such fraud and arbitrariness in future. CO City Parmanand Kushwaha says that on the Tahrir of Shri Vindhya Panda Samaj’s president and minister, a case has been registered against a Facebook page and three websites for cheating by technical use and under the IT Act. Action will be taken against those operating the website on the basis of deliberation.
