New Delhi: National People’s Party (NPP) leader Konrad Sangma took oath as the chief minister of Meghalaya on Tuesday morning. Sangma has become the Chief Minister of the state for the second consecutive time. Apart from PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, all BJP leaders participated in the program. Preston Tynsong and S Dhar were sworn in as the Deputy Chief Ministers of Meghalaya at a swearing-in ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan in Shillong. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that portfolios would be divided in the next 24-48 hours.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that we will continue to work on the foundation we have laid in the last 5 years for the development of the state. We are giving a lot of importance to youth and employment. The overall efficiency of the benefits of various schemes reaching the grassroots level has improved.
In a coalition, there’re always differences & issues that come up. But what’s important is that we should work together & find a way to resolve issues amicably. Please tell that Konrad Sangma was born in 1977 in Tura town of West Garo Hills of the state. His father PA Sangma was the former Chief Minister of Meghalaya and Speaker of the Lok Sabha. PA Sangma also contested the presidential election. Konrad started his political career in the 1990s as the election campaign manager of his father PA Sangma. He contested his first election in 2004 in which Sangma had to face defeat by 182 votes.
